Early Childhood Special Education Preschool
"Bringing Education, Awareness, and participation to students and their families of children with special needs" $313.14 to purchase six copies each of the book Rick's Story, the DVD Together, Book Don't Call Me Special: A First Look at Disability, and the book Born an Angel.

This project would encompass all schools in King George County. The program would rise awareness of inclusion of special needs athletes into extra curricular activities. A presentation would be scheduled at each King George County School to include all students in learning. The presentation would include a 30 minute education segment (video, books, and powerpoint) as well as a 20 minute segment where students an participate in a running activity with special equipment as a demonstration for how easily adaptations can be made to help others participate.

King George Elementary

"Love Your People Campaign", $357.02 to purchase stamp budget pack, value toy budget pack, super-sized value treasure chest, ring sampler. Students will be given a ticket for doing something positive in the classroom, hall, cafeteria, etc. When a teacher or staff member give out a ticket, they are placed in a jug inside the classroom. At eh end of the month, children receive a prize for their ticket.

Potomac Elementary

 ​"Language Supplement Program", $470.23 to purchase a Califone Card reader, headphones, and language cards to give students in the classroom the opportunity to explore language and be capable of perceiving words by speech recognition. These will build on all five essential components of reading: phonics, phonemic awareness, fluency, comprehension, and vocabulary.

Sealston Elementary
"Tower Garden", $500.00 to purchase an Indoor Tower Garden Growing System. The Tower Garden project brings a garden to life inside the school walls. Research shows that gardening at an early age encourages children to eat healthier and live healthier lifestyles Teachers who have used the Tower garden have seen considerable success in a variety of subjects including science, math, literacy, and even art.
